The Centre for Research in Construction Science (CICC) has extensive laboratoryl facilities which include the laboratory areas described below.
ITeCons Headquarters
The headquarters of ITeCons were built in 2008. They consist of administration offices and extensive laboratory facilities which include humidity and temperature conditioning labs, large acoustic chambers, a computer cluster and equipment to carry out accredited tests and develop applied research. There are also modern facilities designed for business meetings, training sessions, consultancy services, and for staging technical events.

Constructions Laboratory
The Constructions Laboratory is on the third floor of the Department of Civil Engineering (DCE). It shares laboratory space with the Structures and Structural Mechanics Laboratories. It is equipped to prepare specimens and carry out a wide range of tests. The DCE constructions laboratory provides services to the building industry and community, under research work being developed and through the experimental component of laboratory classes. The laboratory is staffed by qualified technicians who provide services and support class activities and research work, including projects related to master's and doctoral theses.
Geotechnical Laboratory
The engineering laboratory of ESTBarreiro/IPS contains facilities in an indoor area of 950 m2 where technical and scientific engineering studies are carried out, supporting teaching programs and community collaboration. The laboratory activity encompasses the research and development of new products, physical characterization and assessment of the mechanical behaviour of materials and structural components, providing services to the building industry and public works, supporting continuing education and postgraduate education.
The civil engineering laboratories are: Structures, construction and durability lab; Geotechnical lab; Hydraulics and environmental sanitation lab.

Civil Engineering Laboratory of the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar
The civil engineering laboratory (LEC) of the Instituto Politécnico de Tomar (IPT) was designed to undertake tests and studies in the field of materials and construction.
LEC performs studies and tests in the following areas:
- aggregates;
- concrete;
- precast concrete;
- soils and rocks;
- bituminous products.
On 7 July 2006 LEC was granted accreditation as a testing laboratory in the domain of aggregates, concrete and soils by the Portuguese Institute for Accreditation (IPAC) according to NP EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard. The certificate has accreditation number L0379.
LEC has all the facilities and all the appropriate testing and measurement equipment to perform the tests needed to support teaching, research and service provision activities.
Laboratory of Building Materials of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia da Universidade do Algarve
The Laboratory of Building Materials (LBM ) , which belongs to the Department of Civil Engineering of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia / Universidade do Algarve, develops scientific and technological activities in the area of construction materials.
It carries out activities to promote interaction between the University and industry.
It is an important tool for monitoring the quality of construction in the region.
Endowed with significant technical and human resources, the LBM provides testing services to control the quality of the following materials:
- aggregates;
- cement;
- mortars;
- concrete;
- ceramic materials (bricks and tiles).
Within its policy area and on specific request from organizations, institutions or companies, the LBM may extend its services to other groups of materials.
